U.S. Army Pacific welcomes new commander

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – After more than three years, U.S. Army Pacific (USARPAC) has a new leader.
Outgoing Gen. Charles Flynn handed the reins to Gen. Ronald Clark in a change of command ceremony at Fort Shafter Friday.
Clark previously served as the senior military assistant to Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin in Washington D.C. He was promoted to general prior to the ceremony.
“It is the most important day of my 36-plus years of service today to be here on this field with you, and it is the privilege of my professional life to serve USARPAC headquarters as the commander,” Clark said.
Flynn took command of the U.S. Army’s largest service component command in June 2021. He is retiring after 39 years of service.
As his time in Hawaii comes to an end, Gen. Flynn leaves with gratitude.
“I’m very grateful to so many who have touched our lives along the way while I wore the nation’s cloth. Most of all, I’m thankful for the opportunity,” he said.
USARPAC‘s area of operations covers half the globe and consists of 36 nations and six of the world’s 10 largest armies.
